Reporting

The four numbers that tell you how the business is doing

Revenue invoiced, cash collected, what is still outstanding, and where your team's hours went. Enough to run the business, without a dashboard-building exercise.

The problem

Most trade businesses find out they had a bad month from their accountant, six weeks after they could have done anything about it.

What it does

How reporting works in GoSmoko

Revenue and collections

See what you invoiced against what actually arrived, so a big month on paper is never mistaken for a big month in the bank.

Outstanding and overdue

One list of who owes you what and how late it is. This is usually the highest-value screen in the app.

Where the hours went

Time logged by job and by person, so you can see which work is worth quoting for again.

Job profitability

Compare what a job billed against the time and materials it consumed.

Step by step

What you actually do

  1. 1

    Work normally

Reporting is built from the quotes, jobs, invoices, and payments you already record. There is nothing extra to fill in.

  2. 2

    Check it weekly

Five minutes on a Friday tells you what to chase and what to quote next week.

The details that matter

  • Figures come straight from your own records rather than a nightly aggregation, so nothing is ever a day stale.
  • Amounts respect your configured currency and GST rate.
  • Stripe fees are not deducted, so revenue figures are gross — worth knowing when you compare against your bank statement.

Questions

Before you switch

Can I export the numbers?

Push your invoices to Xero or MYOB and report from there for anything your accountant needs. Direct CSV export is on the roadmap.

Does reporting include GST?

Totals are shown including GST, with GST separated on each document so your return is straightforward.
