Quoting

Send a priced quote before you leave the driveway

Build a quote line by line on your phone while you are still standing in the customer's laundry. GST is calculated as you type, the customer gets a link they can accept with one tap, and an accepted quote becomes a job without you re-typing a thing.

The problem

Most quotes are lost to time, not price. The job gets measured up on Tuesday, the quote gets typed on Sunday night, and by then the customer has already booked someone else.

What it does

How quoting works in GoSmoko

Line items with GST handled

Add labour and materials as separate lines with quantities and unit prices. GST is applied at your registered rate and shown separately, so the quote is compliant from the first draft.

Accept or decline with one tap

The customer opens a clean web page — no PDF to download, no account to create — and chooses. Their answer lands in your pipeline immediately.

Expiry dates that stick

Set a valid-until date and the quote shows as expired once it passes, so material price rises are never your problem to absorb.

Straight through to a job

Accepting a quote creates the job with the same line items, ready to schedule. Nothing is copied by hand, so nothing is copied wrong.

Step by step

What you actually do

  1. 1

    Pick the customer

Search existing customers or add a new one with just a name and a phone number. Details can be filled in later.

  2. 2

    Add your lines

Description, quantity, unit price. The subtotal, GST, and total update as you go.

  3. 3

    Send it

GoSmoko emails the customer a link and records who it went to and when.

  4. 4

    Get the answer

Accepted quotes turn into jobs. Declined ones stay on file so you can see what you are losing and why.

The details that matter

  • Sequential quote numbers per year and per business, allocated atomically so two devices can never take the same number.
  • Line order is preserved exactly as you typed it, on screen, in the email, and on the printed copy.
  • Every amount is rounded to cents at each step, so the line totals always add up to the quote total.
  • Quote links use an unguessable token and are excluded from search engines.

Questions

Before you switch

Can I quote without an email address for the customer?

Yes. Save the quote and print or share the link yourself. Emailing is optional.

What happens if I need to change a quote after sending it?

Sent quotes are locked so the version the customer holds cannot silently change. Create a revised quote and send that instead — both stay on file.

Does the customer see my costs or margins?

No. They see only the line descriptions, quantities, and prices you enter, plus GST and the total.
